Basketball Game Preview: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Golden Sierra Grizzlies

Mesa Verde hasn't had much luck against Golden Sierra recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mesa Verde Mavericks are taking a road trip to square off against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Mesa Verde's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Golden Sierra's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Mesa Verde didn't have quite enough to beat Rio Vista and fell 42-40. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Golden Sierra played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 74-18 loss at the hands of Woodland Christian. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-2.

Mesa Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Golden Sierra, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Mesa Verde came up short against Golden Sierra in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, falling 52-39. Thankfully for Mesa Verde, Rachel Loya (who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and eight steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
