Softball Game Recap: Rose Bud Ramblers vs. Mayflower Eagles

Rose Bud had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Mayflower Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ramblers of the 15-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Tagen Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on one hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mollie Barnett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Abbey Walls was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Mayflower, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

On Mayflower's side, Ruby Otts was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave Otts a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rose Bud will take on Bradford at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mayflower, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lamar at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
