Softball Recap: Scripps Ranch Wins Going Away Against University City

Scripps Ranch came out on top against University City on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Falcons blew past the Centurions 10-1. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Alina Grady made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eme Ledbetter, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Sienna Cole was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Scripps Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Scripps Ranch has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for University City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10-1 record this season.
