Softball Game Preview: JSerra Catholic Lions vs. Los Alamitos Griffins

The JSerra Catholic Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Los Alamitos Griffins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. JSerra Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Los Alamitos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

JSerra Catholic is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Fullerton on Friday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians.

Liliana Escobar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madeline Capek made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. Kendall Stark also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Los Alamitos' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Rosary Academy, falling 8-1.

JSerra Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Los Alamitos, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
