Volleyball Recap: Walnut Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Walnut managed to slip by Diamond Bar the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Brahmas on Wednesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Walnut had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.

Sydnee Montanez paced Walnut's offense, picking up nine kills. Montanez got some help from Kalea Sunabe and her 15 assists. Joya Shen controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Diamond Bar to victory were Ava Furumoto and Kristen Yang. Furumoto had 17 digs and one assist, while Yang hit 70.8% for 17 kills and seven blocks, six digs, and two aces. That's the most kills Yang has posted over her last 14 matchups.

Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Diamond Bar, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Walnut wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Glendora on the 29th. As for Diamond Bar, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Claremont on the 29th.
