Baseball Recap: Pendleton County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bracken County on Wednesday, Pendleton County came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Augusta Panthers by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since May 16, 2024.

Pendleton County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Frisch, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Frisch's first of the season. Cole Harlow was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Pendleton County has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7-1 record this season. As for Augusta, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pendleton County will venture away from home to square off against Paris at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Greyhounds will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Augusta, they will head out on the road to take on Owen County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
