Soccer Game Preview: Logan vs. Groveport-Madison

The Logan Chieftains will square off against the Groveport-Madison Cruisers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Logan is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Marietta just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Logan couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Groveport-Madison). Everything went their way against Johnstown-Monroe on Monday as they made off with a 5-2 win. The contest was close at halftime, but Groveport-Madison turned on the heat in the second half with three goals.

Groveport-Madison moved to 2-9 with that victory, which also ended their seven-match losing streak. As for Logan, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Logan couldn't quite get it done against Groveport-Madison when the teams last played back in September of 2023 as they fell 2-0. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
