Baseball Game Preview: Carver A&T Wildcats vs. Owings Mills Golden Eagles

The Carver A&T Wildcats will challenge the Owings Mills Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Carver A&T is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.

Carver A&T is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over Milford Mill Academy on Thursday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Millers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Benjamin Arneklev made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Schnirel, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Magnus Mumford was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Carver A&T always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Owings Mills was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Chesapeake, falling 16-5.

Carver A&T now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Owings Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Carver A&T might still be hurting after the 32-21 loss they got from Owings Mills in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
