Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kaitlyn Belone and Taylin Puhuhefvaya Lead Winslow to Victory

There's no place like home for Winslow, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-36 win over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets back in December of 2024, they had to take a 46-40 loss.

Winslow was led to victory by Taylin Puhuhefvaya and Kaitlyn Belone. Puhuhefvaya went 8 for 20 on her way to 22 points and seven rebounds, while Belone posted 11 points and seven assists. Those 22 points gave Puhuhefvaya a new career-high. Biinay Patterson was another key player, putting up five points and ten boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Winslow was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.1.

Winslow's record is now 5-17. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15.

Winslow will take on Alchesay at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blue Ridge, they will square off against Snowflake at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
