Football Game Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Woodland Hills Wolverines

The Armstrong River Hawks will square off against the Woodland Hills Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Armstrong took a 28-point defeat the last time they faced off against Gateway, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The River Hawks pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over the Gators on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the River Hawks.

Jaydon Oliver was his usual excellent self, rushing for 90 yards and two TDs, while also throwing for 234 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Costa Couknas was another key player, rushing for 100 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Armstrong's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Max Zablocki and Parker Thomas, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

Meanwhile, Woodland Hills got the win against Greater Latrobe on Friday by a conclusive 33-9. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

The win got Armstrong back to even at 3-3. As for Woodland Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
