Volleyball Recap: Machias Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Machias was the 3-0 winner over Woodland when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Dragons on Friday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Woodland scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22.

Machias' offense was headlined by Olivia Reynolds and Ellie Macdonald, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Justina Smith and her nine assists. Macdonald was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Machias' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Woodland, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

While Machias had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
