Baseball Recap: Wes-Del Triumphs

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Wes-Del brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Everything went their way against the Southern Wells Raiders on Saturday as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Jodan King looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits.

At the plate, Grayson Mealy and Eli Sherfy did most of the damage at the plate: Mealy scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Sherfy scored four runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those runs were Mealy's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kameran Vonderschmitt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Wes-Del's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Southern Wells, they dropped their record down to 3-1 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Raiders beat Wes-Del by a score of 23-3 later that day.
