Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. Liberty Creek Wolves

The Springfield Yellow Jackets will face off against the Liberty Creek Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Creek took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Springfield, who comes in off a win.

Springfield will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Jo Byrns on Monday. Springfield blew past Jo Byrns 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won three games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Goodfred made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Goodfred was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kason Woodson and Hunter Goodfred did most of the damage at the plate: Woodson scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Hunter went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Woodson has posted since back in April of 2024. Landon Mayo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Springfield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Liberty Creek was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell just short of East Robertson by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Liberty Creek fell to 6-1. As for Springfield, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
