Flag Football Recap: Rylee Witcher's Menacing Defense Leads East St. Louis over Edwardsville

East St. Louis gave up the first points on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took down the Edwardsville Tigers 25-6. The score was all tied up 6-6 at the break, but the Flyers were the (much) better team in the second half.

Skylar Wood had another great game (as she tends to do), picking up 121 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to East St. Louis' defense and their four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Rylee Witcher. She also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 16.

The victory made it two in a row for East St. Louis and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Edwardsville, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coincidentally, East St. Louis and Edwardsville will both be playing Belleville West the next time they take the field. The Flyers will host the Maroons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
