Volleyball Recap: North Gaston Takes a Loss

North Gaston lost against Cherryville back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wildcats came up short against the Ironmen, falling 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-21, 25-19.

North Gaston's offense was headlined by Hailey Holmes and Alexandra Martinez Ortiz, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Josephine Ortiz and her eight assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Leading Cherryville to victory were Kate Bookout and Mary Ellis Upchurch. Bookout had nine digs, while Upchurch had three aces.

North Gaston dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cherryville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coincidentally, North Gaston and Cherryville will both be playing West Lincoln the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will host the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Ironmen will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
