Basketball Preview: Alice Coyotes vs. Miller Buccaneers
The Alice Coyotes will take on the Miller Buccaneers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Alice will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Corpus Christi Moody, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Alice breezed by Corpus Christi Moody to the tune of 69-38 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Coyotes have posted since December 12, 2024.

Ryan Ynfante was his usual excellent self, going 12 for 16 on his way to 26 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Briggs Hoffman, who posted six points and 11 rebounds.
Alice smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Miller was beaten by Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial 91-59 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 890th, while the Eagles are ranked 15th).
Alice will need focus on slowing down Anthony Perryman, one of several Miller players who made an impact when they last played. He had nine points and five assists. Perryman is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Trevor Long was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points.
Miller's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Alice, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13.
