It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Akron can now relate to. They fell just short of the Merino Rams by a score of 10-9 on Thursday. Akron's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Anderson Filla and Jakzon Livesay stepped up to the plate in a big way. Filla scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Livesay scored a run while going 2-for-4. Filla is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brock Swedlund, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

On Merino's side, Coen Schmidt made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Schmidt was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Tyler Miller was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Akron's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Merino, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

As of now, neither Akron nor Merino have any future games scheduled.
