Softball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sultan on Wednesday, Meridian came back down to earth. The Trojans lost 13-2 to the Lakewood Cougars on Thursday. The Trojans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Meridian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Schultz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Makayla Tolsma also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meridian has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Lakewood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-10.

As of now, neither Meridian nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
