Baseball Recap: Hoboken Sets Scoring Season-High Against University Academy Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hoboken). They blew past the University Academy Charter Generals 23-1 on Monday. Considering the Redwings have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Dom Magaletta made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Evan Ojeda was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Max Casazza was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Hoboken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

With the win, Hoboken broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-5. As for University Academy Charter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Hoboken will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Generals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
