Brownwood and Graham are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Brownwood Lions will head out on the road to take on the Graham Steers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Brownwood is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Brownwood had just enough and edged Mineral Wells out 9-8. The win was just what Brownwood needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior match.
Peyton Pena was a standout: she scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakayla Peek, who went 1-for-2 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Graham had to settle for a 5-4 defeat against Stephenville on Friday. Graham has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brownwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Graham, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-4.
