Basketball Game Preview: Rock Ridge Phoenix vs. Woodgrove Wolverines

The Rock Ridge Phoenix will face off against the Woodgrove Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Wednesday, Rock Ridge earned a 58-49 win over Dominion.

Rock Ridge relied on the efforts of Prateek Hikaza, who went 12 of 13 en route to 31 points and seven rebounds, and D.K Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. Johnson has become a key player for Rock Ridge: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ameer Yunus, who made all 6 shots he took for 14 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodgrove). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat John Champe 70-42. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolverines who have now won three games in a row.

Woodgrove's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Rock Ridge, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.
