Baseball Game Preview: Perry County Vikings vs. Clarksburg Rockets

The Perry County Vikings will take on the Clarksburg Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Perry County will be strutting in after a win while Clarksburg will be coming in after a defeat.

Perry County took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central by a score of 7-2.

Colby Ary was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ryder Sellers was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jade Eccher, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Clarksburg lost 15-5 to Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central on Friday. The Rockets have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

Clarksburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Perry County, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Perry County couldn't quite get it done against Clarksburg when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as they fell 10-6. Can Perry County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
