Basketball Game Preview: Ellinwood Eagles vs. Lyons Lions

Ellinwood and Lyons are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Ellinwood Eagles will take on the Lyons Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellinwood has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three matches.

Ellinwood will head into Tuesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 29-point drubbing they dealt Ness City on Tuesday. Ellinwood claimed a resounding 68-39 victory over Ness City.

Meanwhile, Lyons came up short against Minneapolis on Tuesday and fell 49-42. Lyons has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ellinwood pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Lyons, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Ellinwood beat Lyons 50-40 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ellinwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
