Valley View is 1-6 against Port Isabel since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Valley View Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Port Isabel Tarpons at 7:30 p.m.

Things were looking good for Valley View after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest 35-31.

Meanwhile, Port Isabel had just enough and edged Rio Hondo out 27-24 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tarpons.

Port Isabel wouldn't let Rio Hondo keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Ty Conatser, Ryan Cienfuegos, and Enrique Vasquez picked up one apiece. Cienfuegos also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles.

Valley View's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Port Isabel, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Valley View came up short against Port Isabel when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 20-13. Can Valley View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
