Cumberland skates past Heritage with ease

Recap: Cumberland Pirates vs. Heritage Hawks

The Cumberland Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 62-32 win over Heritage. That 30 points margin sets a new team best for Cumberland this season.

Cumberland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Roedl out in front who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Mcmechan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

Despite the defeat, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Rylan White scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Cumberland's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Heritage, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland on the road again on Friday and play against Cerro Gordo/Bement at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Cerro Gordo/Bement is ranked 613th, while Cumberland is ranked 609th). As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to square off against Villa Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Grove is on a three-game streak of home losses, Heritage a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
