Football Recap: Hollister Haybalers vs. Branham Bruins
Hollister unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 42-28 fall against the Branham Bruins on Friday. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Haybalers couldn't quite close it out.
Hollister didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nathan Candelaria. Salvatore Felice III was another major factor on D, making 16 total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending one pass.
Andrew Ho had a dynamite game For Branham., rushing for 50 yards and four scores, while also throwing for 252 yards and one touchdown. Those 252 passing yards gave Ho a new career-high. A healthy portion of Ho's aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to Brayden Hodges.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hollister will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wilcox at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Branham, they will face off against Willow Glen at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
