Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Massapequa's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Massapequa had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Shenendehowa Plainsmen on Friday. This was payback for the Chiefs, who suffered a 22-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Massapequa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Shenendehowa, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-3.

Coming up, Massapequa will take on Lancaster at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chiefs 3.6, the Legends 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Shenendehowa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
