Football Recap: Somerset Prep Takes a Loss

Somerset Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Somerset Academy Panthers.

Somerset Academy found their leader in freshman Kayne Garbutt, who threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. Those 288 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Garbutt. A healthy portion of Garbutt's aerial production (110 yards to be exact) went to Amare Nugent, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Somerset Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Somerset Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Somerset Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 36-22 victory against Avant Garde Academy on the 24th. Somerset Academy has also already played their next contest, a 41-7 defeat against Central on the 25th.
