Soccer Game Preview: Highland vs. Civic Memorial

Highland is 1-9 against Civic Memorial since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Highland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bulldogs who were credited with the win. Highland got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Mattoon's three. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Highland.

Civic Memorial is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Charleston 10-1 on Tuesday. Brooke Harris was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Civic Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those seven contests. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 13-9-1.

Highland came up short against Civic Memorial in their previous meeting back in April, falling 2-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
