Volleyball Recap: Chicopee Comp Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Westfield

Chicopee Comp faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Colts came up short against the Bombers, falling 3-0. It was the first time this season that the Colts let down their fans at home.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-18.

Leading Westfield to victory were Nolan Rodgers and Giovanni Gonzalez. Rodgers had 15 digs and three aces, while Gonzalez had 39 assists and five digs. Those 39 assists gave Gonzalez a new career-high.

Chicopee Comp is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-3. As for Westfield, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Looking ahead, Chicopee Comp will head out on the road to square off against Agawam at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Brownies will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westfield, they will take on Longmeadow at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
