It's playoff time, and Avalon had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Union Hill Bulldogs 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

John De La Garza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has become a key player for Avalon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 7-9-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaden Houdek, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Avalon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-9-1 when he doesn't).

Avalon's win bumped their record up to 12-9-1. As for Union Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8-1.

As of now, neither Avalon nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
