Baseball Recap: Greenbrier Takes a Loss

Greenbrier had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-14 to make it five. They fell 3-0 to the Sycamore War Eagles. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the War Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

As for Sycamore, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For Sycamore's part, not much got past Owen McMahan, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Greenbrier off the board. McMahan has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Walker, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Benjamin Kimbrough also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Greenbrier had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
