Softball Recap: Davenport Finds Home Field Redemption Against Canyon Lake

There's no place like home for Davenport, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Canyon Lake on Tuesday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Harper Mcquade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, KINLEY Keller was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ashlynn Kennedy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Keller wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Davenport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon Lake only managed seven hits.

Davenport has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Canyon Lake and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Davenport and Bandera will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davenport is facing Bandera at the right time seeing as Bandera is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Canyon Lake, they will square off against Fredericksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Lake's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fredericksburg has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
