Football Recap: Wando Takes a Loss

Wando extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-5. They lost 42-21 to the Stratford Knights. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Knights are ranked 19th).

When it comes to explaining why Wando lost, don't look at Harris Stone. Despite the final result, he threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 47 yards.

As for Stratford, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.9 points over those games.

Stratford had a senior duo take command as Jachin Davis rushed for 106 yards and one TD on only ten carries and Meliq McGowan rushed for 100 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. McGowan's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

Wando wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 31-14 loss against Lucy Beckham on the 30th. As for Stratford, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-0 win against Goose Creek on the 30th.
