Basketball Recap: Fleming County Takes a Loss

Fleming County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Russell Red Devils. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Russell's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Rimmer, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Rimmer has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Burgess, who posted 14 points.

Fleming County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Russell, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fleming County will square off against Rowan County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Russell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Raceland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
