Softball Recap: DePaul College Prep Comes Up Short

DePaul College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 6-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lauren Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, DePaul College Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Parlier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Parlier's first of the season. Grace Balzarini was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

DePaul College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Aurora Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Looking ahead, DePaul College Prep will host St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Aurora Central Catholic, they will challenge Lyons at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
