Softball Recap: Jefferson West Comes Up Short

Jefferson West dropped their record down to 19-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Tonganoxie Chieftains by a score of 2-1. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chieftains earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Jefferson West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harriet Dean, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Tonganoxie, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Tonganoxie's side, Farrah Halsa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

Jefferson West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tonganoxie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atchison at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
