Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Montgomery Mustangs vs. Highland Rams

The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will square off against the Highland Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Montgomery is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.

Eastern Montgomery will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Narrows, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Eastern Montgomery came out on top against Narrows by a score of 69-58 on Friday.

Eastern Montgomery got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cam Sutphin out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sutphin a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellan Stewart, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Highland entered their tilt with Union on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 47-46 win over the Tigers. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 376th in Virginia, while the Tigers are ranked 82nd in West Virginia).

Highland pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Eastern Montgomery, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Eastern Montgomery didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Highland in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern Montgomery since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
