Basketball Recap: Trinity Falls Despite Big Games from Kanora Bryant and Iniya Charlton

Trinity lost against St. Joseph Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Trinity Trojans took a 64-45 bruising from the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Jaguars are ranked 97th).

Trinity's loss came despite strong showings from Iniya Charlton and Kanora Bryant. Charlton posted 12 points and three steals, while Bryant earned eight points. Charlton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season.

St. Joseph Academy had a senior duo take command as Bree White went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points and three steals and Morgan Wearsch went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points and seven assists. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for Wearsch. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Stehlik, who put up eight points and three steals.

Trinity's record is now 7-3. As for St. Joseph Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Trinity will venture away from home to face off against Beachwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Trinity is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will welcome Strongsville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Strongsville comes in on four and St. Joseph Academy on three.
