Softball Recap: Saugus Finds Home Field Redemption Against Peabody Veterans Memorial

There's no place like home for Saugus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners on Monday as they made off with an 11-4 victory. This was payback for the Sachems, who suffered a 12-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lily Ventre was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (two). Angelina Dow was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Saugus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Saugus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coming up, Saugus will be playing at home against Swampscott at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Big Blue have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.79 runs per game on average), something the Sachems will no doubt try to take advantage of. Peabody Veterans Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
