The Severance Silver Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Severance is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Timnath just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 19-16 to the Cubs. On the bright side, the 16- run performance marked the Silver Knights' highest-scoring match to date.
Domanick Estrella-Torres made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolton Beidleman, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Roughriders have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Stevie Kreimer was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Luke Unruh was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Roosevelt's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Severance, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Severance has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Severance took their win against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-3 score. Will the Silver Knights repeat their success, or do the Roughriders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
