Basketball Recap: Desiree Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holy Trinity over St. John the Baptist

Holy Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 32-24 to the St. John the Baptist Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-42 back in January.

Holy Trinity's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Desiree Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards. Smith continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Waszak, who posted four points and 11 rebounds.

Holy Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for St. John the Baptist, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Holy Trinity will challenge St. Anthony's at 5:45 p.m. on February 11th. St. John the Baptist does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
