Softball Game Preview: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders vs. Weslaco East Wildcats

For the second straight game, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North will face off against Weslaco East. The Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North 2.6, Weslaco East 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They fell just short of Weslaco East by a score of 1-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Weslaco East's part, the result came thanks to Aubrey Zuniga's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.

On the hitting side, Alanah Bautista was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Angelica Herrera, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Weslaco East is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-7.
