Basketball Game Preview: Bastrop Bears vs. Hyde Park Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Bastrop Bears will jump right back in to play the Hyde Park Panthers at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Bastrop has given up an average of 54 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bastrop's tournament run continued when they took on Stephenville on Monday. The Bears had to suffer through an 81-42 loss at the hands of the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 993rd, while the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees are ranked 81st).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hyde Park took on Yorktown on Tuesday. The Panthers blew past the Wildcats 61-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Hyde Park now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Bastrop, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Bastrop beat Hyde Park 65-54 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
