It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Poly Prep Country Day ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Long Island Lutheran Crusaders 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nikhil Bhavnani looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Poly Prep Country Day saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Holtz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win got Poly Prep Country Day back to even at 9-9. As for Long Island Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
