Basketball Game Preview: Pacifica Mariners vs. Esperanza Aztecs

The Pacifica Mariners will face off against the Esperanza Aztecs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, everything went Pacifica's way against El Modena as Pacifica made off with a 62-42 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mariners have posted against the Vanguards since December 8, 2017.

Meanwhile, Esperanza came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 70-46 victory.

Esperanza pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Pacifica, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9.

Things could have been worse for Pacifica, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-45 loss to Esperanza in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Esperanza's Alex Van Otterloo, who went 7 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks.
