Baseball Recap: Tulare Western Beats Porterville for Their Third Straight Win

Tulare Western entered their tilt with Porterville on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

MJ Chavez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tulare Western is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tulare Western saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William Masterson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Masterson has posted since back in April of 2024.

Tulare Western pushed their record up to 7-9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Porterville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-14.

Tulare Western wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-4 victory against Kingsburg on the 15th. As for Porterville, they will challenge Monache at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marauders have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
