Recap: Bishop Dunne Falcons vs. Grapevine Faith Christian Lions
After a string of five wins, the Bishop Dunne Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a rough 82-60 defeat at the hands of Grapevine Faith Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bishop Dunne in their matchups with Grapevine Faith Christian: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Bishop Dunne still got an impressive performance from Green Johnny, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Johnny is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 16 games he's played. Kaden Jackson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Landon Harlin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grapevine Faith Christian, shooting 4-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harlin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennen Byrd, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds.
Bishop Dunne now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.
Bishop Dunne will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Legacy Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Bishop Dunne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The timing isn't great for Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Grapevine Faith Christian has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
