Paul VI has been on a difficult stretch since their win on September 2. They lost 3-0 to the Gonzaga Eagles on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Paul VI can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 47th in Virginia, while Gonzaga are ranked second in District of Columbia).

Paul VI's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4-1. As for Gonzaga, they pushed their record up to 7-3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Paul VI will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Mary's Ryken at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. As for Gonzaga, they will challenge Archbishop Carroll at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Gonzaga will be up against Archbishop Carroll's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.09 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
