Softball Recap: Dupo Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Dupo came out on top against Valmeyer on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Tigers blew past the Pirates 10-0. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.

Addison Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Adrienne Latimer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lily McMannis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Dupo's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Valmeyer, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Dupo will square off against East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Valmeyer, they will take on Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
